Archive is obviously the true solution and when properly implemented he would likely not even notice that they are archived. <br />
That said you could setup a secondary mailbox that he could use as a &quot;storage&quot; location for the older emails.

check for latest outlook software patches, install it<br />
Also how much disk space left on his machine, check what is cpu, memory and page file usage of his machine<br />
If paging is more increase machine memory<br />
if disk space is low do disk clean-up<br />
if cpu utilization is high, check what processes are eating CPU<br />

U may limit his OST file to last 1 year or two year from account settings in outlook<br />
<br />
Enable online archival for him and it will move all emails prior to 2 years to online archival mailbox, this should make his outlook faster

Force him to use OWA.<br />

Outlook is just a terrible client when you have a lot of emails, that's why they have the archiving setting.

I read all these answers and smile. It's the CEO people. You are not going to force the CEO to do anything. He/She just a wants a solution, and I'd bet not to have to learn a new app or procedure. <br />
<br />
But I would sit down and talk about his/her email needs and see if they really need all that mail accessible all the time, or just occasionally. <br />
<br />
And keep in mind that some company's policies require that ALL old email is retained for legal reasons.<br />
<br />
As mentioned in answers here, there are solutions. Go to your CEO with a handful of solutions. Explain the pros &nbsp;and cons of each, and I'm sure you will find one that works for all requirements.

sorry dropped off for a while, thanks for the answers. I have discussed this with him he just wants his mail. The way he has it organized is the issue he separates everything into folder on topic or who its from. Literally hundreds of folders....he just doesnt get it, I have told him its just to much email.<br />

the PC performance is fine plenty of disk space, memory, its just to much email and outlook has to reindex and search for things everytime it opens then is constantly resyncing with O365.

Outlook is a terrible email client, but people rely on that calendar. &nbsp;I've had far fewer problems with Thunderbird, Mutt, Pine, or Apple Mail. &nbsp;I'm not saying that I had no problems with them, but the issues aren't constantly rearing itself.<br />

Set Archive mode and have him do his searches on OWA. &nbsp;There's no way he can do exactly what he wants when he has 75 GB in Outlook. &nbsp;I got a CEO with 40 GB to do his searches through OWA. &nbsp;Just tell him Outlook is broken, because it is.<br />
<br />
Microsoft really needs to get their Outlook group to fix the client instead of adding bloat. &nbsp;They obviously don't properly test with large mailboxes.
