Can not open folder using a batch file.

Hi All,

I am running into problem where I need to open a folder using a batch file.  I have tried start option but due to spaces, I am not able to open the folder.  There are 2 folders one with 2 spaces and one with 3 spaces.

Start C:\Folder1\Folder2\Test Name\ Final test name\test.txt

Once the batch file is complete, I need to write the file name into a text file. Please advice.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You need an empty pair of quotes at the beginning if the command line needs to be enclosed in quotes as well:
Start "" "C:\Folder1\Folder2\Test Name\Final test name\test.txt"

Thanks oBdA opening the folder worked.

How do I write the content to a text file in the folder?
oBdACommented:
Using the "dir" command:
@echo off
setlocal
set folder=C:\Folder1\Folder2\Test Name\Final test name\test.txt
dir "%folder%" >"%folder%\FolderContents.txt"

Open in new window

And if you just want the names of the files (not the other info DIR displays) then you can use "bare" format as in:

dir /B "%folder%" >"%folder%\FolderContents.txt"
