Does Windows indeix items in Outlook archives that are offline, meaning not attached to Outlook but can be opened up at a later date?
Outlook archives. I have a user that had over 76,000 items in one folder in his inbox., needless to say he had performance issues, where Outlook would hang, other folders had over 45,000.
I got him to finally archive. Local archives (tried to keep them small are in the 7-12,000 range. I rather he does not keep the archives open but rather opens them should he need to search for something from a prior year etc.
My question is, are the content of PST files indexed if they are NOT attached to Outlook, so if he opened one, might it take excessively long to find what he is searching for?

Hey John
I have an outlookdata (folder) at the root of the drive to keep everything organized. I would think it would do it there as well - no?
Thanks!

Have a good day!
Thanks. I will. Friday is my consulting day off. 3 days weekends all the time.
If you just did this, the Index needs a day or two to complete, but for sure it works.
