cannot connect to Local on sql 2016 when another sql server is linked

I have a sql query that compares identical tables between 2 linked sql servers.
cdiserv5 linked to cdiserv6, we recently updated from sql 2008r2 to sql 2016, and for some reason I cannot get my old query to work, primarily because once i link the servers the (local) server is not listed in Sis.Servers, is there a default name i need for the local server.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

never mind, I simply removed the server from the query and it worked fine.
