Video automatic switching to second monitor on failure of 1st monitor.
I have an application question
Basic Information:
4 computers with 2 video ports each, all monitors will be 1920 X 1080
one video port on each computer is directly connected to a 55 inch monitor
the second video port will need to be connected to one 42 inch monitor 4 connections.
when the primary video on the 55 inch fails it is to then be displayed onto the 42 inch screen. First one that fails only on automatic.
There would also be the need to manually switch the 42 inch to any one of the 4 computers.
If you have Ideas and or reference areas p[lease advise.
Thank You

ASKER
this must have automatic fail over.
I believe that the duplicate monitors would work for the two monitors to post the same however I believe it would almost need to utilize a smart type of KVM application.
Thank You

Hi Cwlovan,
My solution to something like this is going to be less automatic than you were probably hoping for.
Ideally you would have a 4 input to 1 output HDMI KVM switch, probably searching for one with an automatic switching feature based on input(like: https://www.amazon.com/Gen eric-HDMI- 1-Out-Swit ch-Cable/d p/B0018DQY Q2, but with the KVM aspect)but I'm not sure how those would work with 4 monitors that are all being used at the same time.
All the 4 monitors would connect into that switch and be cloned off of their original display/computer. But on the output tv of the 4 port KVM switch enable the setting to turn on the TV using HDMI(I'm not sure how exactly this would work depending on the KVM switch that you use, but ideally when you need to switch the KVM/the KVM detects a new input the output monitor for the KVM switch will automatically turn on and you will have the screen showing what you need.
Hopefully this will get you thinking and point you in the right direction.

THe manual switching on the 42 inch though has to be done with the remote, or with the monitor buttons.
