Problems encrypting Samsung s9+

I had this question after viewing Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Encryption?.

My s9+ phone does not have a "Security" option under "Settings", only a "Lock Screen and Security" option. Under that the only encryption option is for the SD card, not the Device.

Pretty sure the answerer in the other question wasn't using an S9 or plus. Your S9+ should already be encrypted. From looking around the web, Google is requiring device encryption on devices that have Android 7 or higher.

Now, if you're wanting to have apps installed into your Secure Folder, which is protected by Knox, then you do have to enable that. Any apps that you want to be installed here have to be installed while in the Secure Folder, and they can only be accessed by going into the Secure Folder first (using a pin).
I assume you checked in "Lock Screen & Security"?

I'll check with our IT folks and see what they can tell me. When I got the new phone they just copied over the apps and everything seems to be installed correctly and works, but sounds like AirWatch and Hub need to be installed into this Secure folder. I'm just wondering how I know if the phone is encrypted or not? It did not require a PIN or password, I set that up after everything was on the phone.

The only option regarding encryption in the Lock Screen & Security is to encrypt the SD card.

Thanks.
I own a Samsung S9+ myself and can confirm the phone is encrypted by default. (Actually rang Samsung support with that question for a client a few months ago) It's only the SD card that you need to manually set for encryption.

Here's a couple of links for you that support that.

Encrypted by Default?  (Reddit Link)

This is how you know if your phone is protected by encryption (Old link, but still relevant)

Hope that's helpful.

"The S8 is encrypted by default when putting in the screenlock credentials: pin, patern, fingerpatern, password, but this is very basic security. See: Settings> Screen lock and security> Secure startup.

You've probably already seen it but you can also encrypt your SD card via Storage settings. This is the kind of encryption you are talking about I assume, but this option is only for SD.

If you want extra encryption I would advice using Secure folder for individual apps/documents or Knox Mobile Security for a full phone(Knox sandbox) encryption.

Qoute on Secure folder from Samsung:
"Application data and files put in the Secure Folder are encrypted with defense-grade Sensitive Data Protection (SDP) technology - using 256-bit AES cipher algorithm to secure data..""

I think Samsung S9+ is the same as Samsung S8 provided that you have put in the screenlock credentials: pin, patern, fingerpatern, password.
