How to create a new vm from a vmx and vmdk file with the vm having a new name

I was given a vmx file and a vmdk file from a company and they want me to create a new vm with a different name for the vm than what is on the files that they sent us.
We are running ESXI 6 and was wondering if I place these 2 files onto one of our data stores, then what is my next steps via the vsphere client to create a new vm from these 2 files?

@Roshan Mohammed

but with that method the files will still be called desktop01 !!!

only the inventory name will  be desktop02...

unless you storage vmotion to a new/different datastore to complete the rename procedure, so ALL files match the inventory name!

It really depends what the OP means by "new VM" and you've also got the MAC Address and UUID which may need to be modified as well!

It's unclear what and why the new VM needs to be, and for what purpose.

It would have been much easier to use the CLONE function in vCenter Server, to create the new VM.

HOW TO: Select the right answer to "I Moved It" or "I Copied It" in VMware vSphere (ESXi)
