Editable Word document on an ASP.NET forms website

How to open a word document on an ASP.NET  website page inside a popup or a text area in ASP.NET forms application without using silverlight ?
The document should be formattable and editable and can be update on click of a button in the web page . It can also be downloadable in locally on click of download button. Please help.

This question looks like an entire task. What you are trying to do can be achieved but it will take a lot of time and effort and I am not sure if I can do that entirely on my own.

One quick way you could achieve this is via hosting the document on OneDrive / Office Online and then embedding it via embed code. Please have a look at : https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Embed-a-Word-document-in-your-blog-0faa0253-2751-44bf-8486-ea7837fe7db1

Also Microsoft Word offers a huge set of features, if you are just looking for text editing then I would recommend using TinyMCE or CKEditor instead of trying to implement Word document editing functionality.

Thanks Chinmay . It helped  . Looks like TinyMCE and CSK editor are paid . are there any free wares where we can use to edit and save and diplay or embed the documents ?

TinyMCE is LGPL based. There is no cost attached to it.

If you have 5 or less active users CKEditor is free as well. Check their pricing.

Yes. Check Self Hosted and then starter pack. It is absolutely free. It is just that there are add-ons and other premium features for which you have to shell out money. Other than that it's all free.
