Cannot install Brother software for HL-L6200 on Windows 7 PC
Brother HL-L6200 series printer on Windows 7 machine. The install software fails on all parts of the installation and requests restart, which is of no help. I have run CHKDSK /r and then SFC. SFC finds almost everything corrupt and cannot repair. The system is running flawlessly for the client, but cannot print to the new network printer. The same install media was used on 5 other computers and worked just fine. The install media is the latest downloaded from Brother website. The antivirus is Trend Micro Worry Free Biz Security. The hard drive was replaced a couple years ago, due to failure of the original. It was cloned and has worked flawless since then, which it still is with this one exception. I have uninstalled all previous Brother software, and run CCleaner before the last restart. I am going to run Windows Repair Toolkit at next chance.

Up above it says nearly everything SFC would fix is corrupt. I would fix Windows first. or troubles will continue to arise.
in many cases, a fresh install is the best and fastest way out - after a good backup.
reason: repairing may/may not succeed, and may take more time

Your install generates for sure some logs or errors. What do they say?

Client has refused a clean install. Computer is running better than ever, with only the printer install failing. I removed all other printers and successfully reinstalled them. I am going on-site to call Brother and work with them first. Taking a Windows 7 DVD to try repairs first.
Client has refused a clean install. <-- You can do a Repair Install as I noted to correct the numerous underlying errors.
Note: Also restart and try SFC another time. Does it still produce many errors? Sometimes running a second time cleans up issues.

Ran SFC twice more, no help. However as John mentioned, I have seen this help in the past. Worked with Brother tech support and was told the print only driver would only work with USB printers! I questioned his statement, and then installed it anyways (Per Kimputer). Normally I install the full software, but in the case it is more than acceptable. It worked! Still cannot install any Brother software on that computer.
Note: Windows 7 DVD repair fails with not compatible version. It is the same DVD I used to install SP1 installs. This computer is a downgrade to Windows 7 straight from Lenovo. Also, the computer BSOD with memory management error running Windows repair toolkit during the cleanmem start of repairs.

probably the win 7 dvd is not the same version
Is this a multi-function printer? ie scans, copies, and prints? If not then you do not need to install the whole brother software, just installing the basic drivers should be sufficient. If it does scan as well you still will need to some how install the scanner portion of the software.

The DVD is Window 7 Pro SP1. Cannot speak for what Lenovo did for downgrade install, and not sure I have ever had to repair a downgraded PC.
The printers are not multi-function. It is only the BRadmin software and monitor for low toner that would be of interest to me. I can easily do without those on one PC.
Correction: Incorrectly typed Windows 10 DVD originally.

Just to inform you although the toner sensor may report that it is time to change your toner, I find that you can print at least 50 more pages before you actually have to swap it out. Often people swap out the cartridges prematurely. I have not only used brother printers but used brother printers in the office where I worked.

So true. It is a reminder to make sure they have more on hand, and order it immediately if not.
>> The DVD is Window 10 Pro SP1. << unknown to me; i know windows 7 SP1 though
