Scan to Folder Issue Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C250iF

I am having issues scanning to a folder with a Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C250iF  printer/scanner.  I am trying to scan to a shared folder on a windows 10 desktop.  The scan user has read/write permissions under the file share and under the advanced sharing the user has full control.  I can browse to this folder on any other computer in the network with the scan user.  However, when I try to scan to the folder from the Canon scanner it gives an error that says there is no connectivity to the destination.

The canon printer is setup in the address book under one touch with the following configuration:

File SMB
Host      192.168.1.50 (not the actual IP)
PATH      \scan                  (when I browse to this from another computer works fine \\192.168.1.50\scan)
username  scan
password  xxxxxx

I also tried using the Windows Fax and Scan program in combination with the Canon Color_Network_Scan_2 driver/application.  The Color_Network_Scan_2 finds the printer with no problem, but the Windows Fax and Scan program still fails to work.  Has anyone else ran into this issue?

Thanks,

Too be honest, I've not paid a lot of attention to where the scans end up.  I have a Canon all-in-one that provided the Canon U Scan Utility software/app.  I investigated and it seems to only want to put scans into "Documents" or "Photos" unless one clicks on ADD and then the other folders become available to choose from.  However, the setting doesn't work and all the scans go into Documents.  I didn't reboot to try *that*.

For you, might this be an SMB issue?  SMB1 is no longer available - or shouldn't be.  How old is the printer?

Can you scan to ANY folder?

No, I can not scan to any folder.  If it is a SMB issue, could I just change the NTLM settings in the local security policy?  Or doe Windows 10 not support SMB1 at all?

Thanks,
how about trying to scan using the domain name of the folder.
I've been supporting some Xerox all-in-one devices and we had to upgrade their firmware to deal with the SMB issue.  You might look into that.... is there new firmware for the Canon?
I tried scanning using the domain name as well, but it was unsuccessful.  I do not see any new firmware update on the Canon site.  I think I'm going to try to get the Windows Imaging Acquisition (WIA) working.  I have enabled it on the printer/scanner and the Color_Network_ScanGear2 Canon app finds the printer with no problem.  Is there another WIA application that I could try instead of Windows Fax and Scan application.

Thanks for all the help.
But have you tried scanning using the IP address?
Yes, I have tried the IP address as well.  I am wondering if the SMB issue you brought up earlier is correct.  I am trying to scan to a folder on a Windows 10 machine.  The scanner error is saying it has no connectivity.  This is odd, because all the computers on the network can browse to the shared drive.  I was hoping if I changed tactics and switch to a WIA solution that would solve my issue.  I was hopeful because the Color_Network_ScanGear2 Canon app seems to find the scanner with no problem.  However, I can not get the Windows Fax and Scan app to work with it.  I have found other postings about issues with the Windows Fax and Scan app not working correctly with WIA scanner, so I'm looking for an alternative.

Thanks,
I think the way to view this is that the *computers* can talk to each other using SMB2.  But the Canon isn't a "computer" as such.  It isn't running Windows, etc.  So, I believe the problem is with the printer.  Some printers allow you to select the protocol - so you may be able to "select" your way out of this problem AT THE PRINTER.  If there's no new firmware to do this then it may say that the printer is either fairly new (so no new firmware YET) or fairly old (so no new firmware expected ever again - and the SMB issue is water under the bridge for that product).  You will know better than I which might apply.  That rather leaves WIA AT THE COMPUTER out of the picture methinks.
Is SMBv1 enabled on the PC? Pirnters like to use it but Windows 10 disables it by default. You can enable it from "Turn Windows features on and off" in Control Panel > Programs and Features.

This seems to be one of many thing you cannot do from the silly Settings app.
I went in and enabled SMBv1/CIFS File Share Support for both the client and the server.  I also turned off the firewall and confirmed that file and printer sharing was turned on under the NIC.  It still gives me the no connection error.  I think we are going to have to live with scanning to e-mails, because I can't get this to work.
Try giving Everyone full access to the scan folder. If that works, you can progressively remove permissions until it fails again, at which stage you will know what caused it.
Another thing to try is to create a user on a PC with the same credentials as the scanner, and see if you can create a file on the scan folder.
I tried opening the permissions up to everyone and that didn't work.  I was able to browse the folder from another computer using the same username and password that the scanner has.  I'm not sure what is going on because the scanner is claiming no connectivity, but it clearly has connectivity because the Color_Network_ScanGear2 Canon app can find the printer with no issues.  I suspect their is an issue with SMB, but I'm not sure how to fix it.
