Joing MAC to domain access desktop contents
I need to join a MAC to local network, so that it can see the shares from the servers, which are also local.
Also, I need to see the content of the MAC's desktop from a regular Windows computer so that we can backup the data remotely.
What is the best way to do this?
Thanks.

I turned on FileSharing however when I try to connect from a Windows computer it default to the domain.. and anything I enter gets rejected..
How can I check the domain that the local MAC is on?
Any other suggestions?

When you set up file sharing, you need to also click on the Options button and select the account you wish to allow connections. You will then need to enter the password for the SMB share to connect.

What worked for me was to override the domain by entering the actual name of the local domain and the username etc that worked

Thanks to both contributors.
From WIndows you just need to connect to \\Mac_IP_address_or_Name\
If you're on the local network, you can connect to the Mac using VNC for screen sharing. Turn on Screen Sharing in the Mac preferences and you can use any of the free VNC software for Windows and it should be more direct than TeamViewr. However, you should understand that this is a less secure operation than Remote Mamagement, which is a better encrypted VNC, You should only use Screen Sharing or any free VNC product on a local network that you trust. The encryption key is too short and easily cracked.
Just remember that this is shared to everyone out there. You should not leave any sharing on if it's a laptop used for traveling even if you have set it to use account credentials. It would be better to install backup software on the Mac and have it push the backup onto the server, rather than having the server pull it from the Mac. That way, the mac would not have to start any services and open ports.
