Re-activating Twitter

Re-activating Twitter

I just deleted a bunch of political Tweets and de-activated my account :  CultureWarCrack

but I am "in process" for a fulltime job and the background check started Friday.

I realized it was very bad timing to phase out of Twitter, as I intend to do. It might look like I am hiding something. Lucky, when I googled me, I found I could access to Tweets I had deleted.

And when I went to Settings and Privacy, I expected an "Activate" button, but only found De-Activate.

Is my account de-activated?

Should I try and put those deleted Tweets back, for now? Then, once I am past this review process for this job, I can literally de-activate it and move on.

Please give me your advice.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Can you save or print the deleted Tweets?  If so keep them for your prospective employer to review if they so desire. Do not hide anything.  Then at the end, your account is deactivated which is what you wish. Does that help?

It sounds like just by logging back in to Twitter after de-activating it you will re-activate it.

How to reactivate your account

Other than that I guess you just leave it where it is as far as content.  Unless you think the content there is more damaging than the risk that they think you deleted something to 'hide' it during this job process.

I only began to fear it looking bad, AFTER I deleted 100+ Tweets. They were political and opinionated, but not bad or evil.

Can I restore the ones I deleted? I think that is an okay compromise, seeing as I am in-process and have nothing to hide.

I did see some deleted tweets when I googled my name, so that was a good sign. Does Google archive them for its own use?

I see an option to get a URL to an archive. Do you know how I could use that to restore the Tweets, at least until I have the job?

According to this, you cannot restore the deleted tweets, but the article does suggest a way to recover your tweets (to your computer) and then you have them for your prospective employer if need be.
