Server 2012 DFS shares
I have a file share server (Win 2012 R2) with 6 separate virtual hard disk partitions. I want to set up another file server to replicate to using DFS Replication. My question is, do i need to have the same exact number of disk partitions and their sizes or can i create a single partition with equal too or greater than the other servers partitions and replicate to it.
DFS-R operates at the file level. It has no dependency on partition sizes beyond needing enough room to stage and store replicated data.
Are you locating this new file share in a completely different location?
Is so you will want to make sure that the Sites and Services is properly setup to avoid traffic from going over the wire between locations.

Thank you both for the reply. the idea was to have to VM's each VM' being in a seperate cluster and replicating to each other. Ill read the article and follow up. I will be out of office for about a week so may not post my findings right away.
