Helpdesk software recomendations?
Hello, Experts. I just started a position and I'm evaluating cloud based HelpDesk software. Would like recommendations on a system that will do basic HelpDesk functionality (portal to case, email to case) as well as the ability to have several Queues. I also need good integrated Inventory scanning and management and AD integration (Customer authentication to portal and for user selection and Inventory hardware to user matching). Reporting is also important, what we don't track we didn't do. I've looked at several products but would like some recommendations.

First off: what have you looked at and discarded for what reason?

David. I just joined my Corp , only have 3 staff and they were using plumsail.com, a Sharepoint addon which works but is slow and does only basic helpdesk. I checked spice works cloud HelpDesk. Works ok, reporting is limited AD integration for the user portal but not for filling out tickets. The inventory does a basic scan but not a lot of detail. I also looked at TeamViewer Service Camp but the inventory module is not much more than what Spiceworks offers and it's 5k year.. ManageEngine's ServiceDesk Plus which has more features but is in the mid 5k. At this point I would rather spend my budget on other much more needed projects.
How many users are we talking about? We use ServiceDesk Plus. But don't spend 5K. Maybe we would if used it for inventory. We found it to be the best bang for the buck. You could look at Zendesk too. Are you looking for a ITIL solution or just basic helpdesk?

4 Help desk participants, 135 users 250 machines. No ITIL at the moment. I'm going off the online pricing.
