Secure file transfer steps to set up on windows 2016 server
Hi, I am trying to set up a secure file transfer on windows server 2016. I need a practical and simple documentation. Any ideas ?
Stick with https://filezilla-project. org/downlo ad.php?sho w_all=1&ty pe=server to avoid ending up in... a dark corner... curled into a fetal position... wishing for the nightmare to end... :)

I was thinking on the lines of configuring IIS and accessing it using WIN SCP client. Any ideas? my server sits behind a firewall.
WinSCP has instructions on that: https://winscp.net/eng/docs/guide_windows_ftps_server
You need to add the FTP role first then use a TLS certificate to encrypt it so that you have FTPS.

Thanks, I did that. I used a self signed certificate. But whenever i try to connect t the Ftps it only allows me connect on the public IP address. i cannot connect to it through the private IP. then i am using a self signed certificate. can i use purchase one. how can i install it?
(I'm not in front of an IIS computer right now, so I'm only able to give you a generic overview.)
That's part of your IIS configuration. You need to set up IIS to answer on the internal IP. Open IIS manager and configure the site to answer on the IP. If your site is answering to the domain name, you can also set up an internal DNS to redirect to the internal IP.
You can purchase a certificate from and Certificate Authority. You will need to generate a certificate signing request in IIS. Got to the FTPS site in IIS Manager. There should be an Icon for Certificates. You'll tell it to generate a CSR. Then use that to enter into a Certificate Authority to request. You then download the Windows certificate and go back to IIS to complete the request by loading the new certificate.
