Does Access perform better on a Win 7 os or Win 2012 R2 or Win 2016?

I have a new client that their IT company has the FE running on a VM Windows 7 OS.  He also has 35 users using the same single copy of the FE.  I am going to put a FE copy on each users separate folder or possibly on their own H drive.

The BE is a SQL server 2000.  I will be changing it to a new version once I get them stabilized.

My question is Does Access perform better on a Win 7 os or Win 2012 R2 or Win 2016?

I was not referring to running Win 2012/2016 on a workstation.   I am considering building a new server and putting the FE on it.   Would that be better than having 35 FE on a Win 7 workstation?

But you don't share a single frontend. Never. And even if you did, it would still run on the workstation.
You keep it on the fileserver for distribution, that's all.

It is never good practice to share the FE.  If one user locks it up, ALL users are affected.  Your plan to distribute the FE to individual workstations is correct.  The workstations should be Win 10.   Then the BE runs on a server.  The OS the server runs should be whatever handles SQL Server best.  It has nothing to do with Access.

I know you "never" share a single FE.  Their current IT company did it.  I am fixing it.

Yes, BUT

I was trying to clarify the two environments.
