Hi Experts ,

I want to do upgrade for a windows 2008 server to windows 2012 ,, I have done the upgrade on test server and it went successful  .However as it is test  server i just relized that my application and files was there after upgrade which is the most important thing .Now i want to do the real upgrade on the production server and i want for the experinced guy to adivse what are the things that i should consider in order NOT to face any issue after going Live with the Proudction System .

the things i have Noted

1- Windows  Server needs activation  again
2-there is windows.old folder ... shall I delete this folder by the way or i should keep it ? what is the properway  to delete just shift +delete  or this procedure  to delete it

please let me know if there are other things you noticed after upgrade

3-  another question  can I do roollback from windows 2012 to windows 2008 after the upgrade ? is it poessbile with the option to keep files and applikcation

Hi

Personally I would not upgrade as you carry across any issues with the current server.

Best practice is to build a new one and then install all your applications etc.

Is the current server physical or virtual?

What does it do? What software and roles are installed?
