Content to be displayed on two monitors.

We now have a 23 inch Acer monitor and a Samsung 17 inch monitor. A Lenovo desktop ThinkCentre M Series which is about 8 years old.
It has a VGA port and a display board.
How do we utilize two monitors with this one system. Both the hookup and getting content of webpages on the two monitors. If looking inside the tower any way to know of the computer can support both monitors. Thanks.

Have you checked the bios to see if multi display can be enabled?

Also if you want different content on each screen, you need a video card with two separate outputs.  We do this on Lenovo computers at our clients to make maximum use of two screens

The M Series already support VGA AND DisplayPort at the same time "out of the box"

So if one of your monitors has VGA input you just need to get an active adapter for the other from DisplayPort on the back of the desktop  to whatever input it needs.

At most you're going to need just one more cable.  If at least one monitor supports DisplayPort you're already there.
John, having multiple ports means the cards are there as is the ability to have use multiple monitors independently.
If the old card supports it, then that will work. It depends on the installed card.

I just got the Acer out of the box (given to us - second hand) and it has a DVI cable and a VGA so we would need a DVI to Display Port cable or adapter. I can check the bios settings later tonight.
We have machines with one card only (Intel on the main board), DVI and VGA for compatibility and only one output. So you need to check your own machine

I have ordered a DP to DVI adapter from AliExpress. It will be several weeks before delivery.
----------------
F12 and into the bios the only tab that had anything to do with display was devices > video > and nothing in there about dual display.

If I looked in the right place, then what do I take away from the fact that nothing in Bios indicates enabled or disabled multi display.
I have two ports so I assume I can.
yes, you can use two monitors on that system, and the adapter you ordered should do the trick.
As for the setup, all you need to do is tell me which version of Windows you are using and I'll give you step by step instructions for setting up the second monitor.

......how to do that, hook up two monitors or identify the video card.

I'll ask that in another question when we get the systems hooked up which will be in early May due to the shipping time being 30+ days and out of the country travel.

To close this discussion soon what are the basics for using two monitors? A few years ago I visited someone who had dual setup. Once browsers, etc. were open you could be drag from one monitor to another.
If you have two monitor outputs, yes, you can drag any one window to the other side.
