How to set up hosting for a website

Hi,

We developed a website for our customer.

Our customer wants this website hosted.

The person who usually sets up the hosting is on leave.

I have to do the hosting but am not sure of the steps.

The hosting is for the domain eurospan.ie.

How would I go about setting this hosting up?

Thanks,
Robbie

This relates directly to the hosting company used for hosting.

Each hosting company will have a different procedure.

If you get stumped, best to open a support ticket with the hosting company being used.
Generally the steps will be...

1) If a database is involved (like with WordPress or other CMS), create database + load database.

2) Copy over all files (non database) into some directory.

3) Point Apache (or other Webserver) to directory where files live.

4) Change DNS to point site's IP to hosting service you're using.

Fairly simple + can take some time, depending on how the hosting company's user interface is implemented.

Hi all,

Thanks for the help.

The website is one created in raw HTML and CSS code.

It is not a big website with database or anything like that.

We were thinking of using LetsHost.

After registering domain, signing up for hosting service and pointing IP, are there much other steps to upload the website and make it live?

Thanks,
Robbie
Buy Cpanel and launch your website in few clicks. Cpanel is a licensed version with good support to manage your website.
You asked, "...are there much other steps to upload the website and make it live?"

In your case, just copy your files into your site's DocumentRoot + you should be done.

That is a good option, however, looking at what is included in LetsHost, Cpanel is part of the deai. https://kb.letshost.ie/how-do-i-access-my-cpanel-control-panel/
