Rebuild RAID 5 array on Buffalo Terastation TS1400
I have a Buffalo Terastation TS1400. A drive failed and I replaced it. I formatted the drive but cannot get the RAID 5 to rebuild using that drive. The instructions say to press the bottom button on the NAS for 3 seconds but that does not do anything.
Any idea how I can get this to rebuild.

Above is correct, replacement has to be the same capacity or greater. a 4TB WD will work OK since that's bigger, it just won't use all of the disk.

It is a 3 TB drive but I will pick up a 4 TB drive today and see if that works

I added another 3 TB drive. This one was also a Seagate barracuda drive. It also formatted the same size as the first one I tried. I put in a 4 TB drive and formatted it. I pressed the bottom button for over 3 seconds and nothing happened. I rebooted the NAS and I still do not see anything showing me the RAID is rebuilding. Attached is a new screenshot

It shows the RAID file system is XFS. It was the Buffalo that formatted it this way.

I just found a document that said " Do NOT format the replacement drive!." The problem is the rebuild did not start before I formatted it. Now I need to figure out how to unformat it
I've already told you how to "unformat it", put it in a PC and run DBAN on it or just use the diskpart "clean disk" option.

I got the 4 gig drive to work. Last night it was rebuilding the RAID but something went wrong. The drive lights are all on showing they are good but the main light is flashing red.
In the attached screenshots it shows:
RAID Array1 failed however the RAID shows all disks are normal. It also shows "Previous RAID Mode: RAID5" instead of current RAID mode.

After getting the drive working the RAID never did rebuild. I had to delete the RAID and rebuild which took about four days to finish.
