Alternative to Docusign in an Access application

Hi Experts!

I am looking at alternatives to Docusign for a client. They have an Access application which they use to generate sales contracts and would like to be able to integrate/automate the process. They currently use Docusign but it is not integrated and requires quite a few extra steps for each contract. The pricing for Docusign is prohibitive based on their volume - so they have asked me to look into other options.

My question is: Has anyone used other e-signing tools and integrated them with an Access application (VBA, or API's, or whatever)?

I'm told their contract with Docusign is coming to an end soon so this is pretty hot at the moment.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I am not familiar with Docusign but i can't say its anything spectacular....at least from the Youtube presentation..in my previous job we simply had the needed signs scanned (using a thicker pen to get it clearer) ...put is as a blob in table fields and that's pretty much all...
Edit: it seems like it was a simple OLE object field that would store a bitmap image and would get displayed as a simple OLE

What docusign does is embed a "Sign Here" area in a document which anyone can sign and the return to the sender. I'm not looking to store the signature per se - just replicate the function in the body of a report which can be sent out and returned signed.
Hi Eileen,

I've used .jpg files of the authorized signer's signature.   The Access app just links to the signature file when printing the document.  I don't know what the security implications are.  The apps where I do this require user login and are kept on a secure server which also requires authorization to even get to the BE.  I'm pretty sure that a determined hacker could break in but you have to weigh the risk.  It's not like most offices allow non employees free access to untended computers so normal levels of security are probably adequate.  .
So the document is sent and the recipient gets a "Sign Here" ?  i reckon this  goes through their platform
That's correct John - it does go through their platform -- and that's fine - and there are SDK's and ways to automate the sending of the document to their site -- but I've not found one for Microsoft Access/VBA
Before you leave a service don't forget to export any important data. It's likely you have plenty of important data stored in docusign.

It's a little more than that...the document is encrypted along with the signature to ensure no tampering and is traceable back to the signer.   It's admissible in a court of law as dutifully signed document as if you had signed it in person.

Jim.
Right - I want to use a service again - perhaps one similar to docusign - I need help with the interface between the application and the service site.

Good morning John. A lot of these services have the API's - so I guess I'll need some help with this. There are none to use with VBA (I know but that's what my client's apps are written in) -- so I will have someone help me with a .net version and integrate it that way.
