Button reads note contents when clicked in slide
HI. I have a powerpoint slide, I want a button to read the contents of the slide note when it is clicked.
Does it need a macro?
Does it need a macro?
What does "read the contents" mean? Do you want to display the slide note text in a dialog box or read it alound or something else?

Hi, to read it aloud, actually, if that's even possible.
This is technically possible, but not easily with a "macro". It would be better served with an add-in and I created a quick prototype to prove the concept. Save it to your PC and add via the PowerPoint add-in UI via File / Options / Add-ins and then change the Manage drop down to PowerPoint Add-ins and click the Go buttton. You can then choose Add New in the window that opens. Notes-to-Speech.ppam

HI Jamie - I tried the above but it doesn't find any file to add in. The above link is actually a .zip folder. Powerpoint doesn't see anything to import either in the .zip folder or in the de-compressed folder. The files of type drop down has no other option than "PowerPoint Add-ins" when you follow the above steps...
That's strange. I just clicked the link above and a file called Notes-to-Speech.ppam got downloaded to my computer. What browser are you using? I can add the source code here for you to build the project yourself if you like but it's quite involved.

HI Jamie - I had been using IE, but switched to chrome, and this time the download worked as expected, and I have downloaded the .ppam file, but Powerpoint add-in window just remains blank when I browse to and add it...
Do I need to loosen up security settings first?

You're almost there! You need to click the Add New button, navigate to the folder where you saved the PPAM file, select it, click OK, click Close.

Hi, that's what I did.... It doesn't load in...
OK. Try PowerPoint / File / Options / Trust Center / Trust Center Settings and select the 3rd option Disable all macros except digitally signed macros. You should also see BrightCarbon listed in the Trusted Publishers tab of the same window.

Thanks Jamie, I have the add in installed now (phew!) so can you please give me a one liner on how to trigger it in a slide?
