How do I copy 1 photo from iPhone to Mac OS Mojave

How do I copy (move is OK) single photo from iPhone [iOS 12.1.4] to Mac OS Mojave [Mac OS 10.14.3] with minimum effort. No 'Continuity Camera', No Air Play, No iTunes.

Click 'n Drag would be ideal, but likely not possible :-) - I do this infrequently and would like simple method to get 1 photo from iPhone to Mac OS. Copy to Desktop/Folder OK - just want simple method. iPhone is connected to Mac with Lightning/USB cable. Seems Apple must have solved this...

I have spent too much time with no photo copy/move - Help!!

Have you used AirDrop ..??
http://osxdaily.com/2017/02/27/airdrop-iphone-to-mac/

As long as iPhone and Mac are both nearby and have bluetooth enabled .. you can open PHOTOS .. select the photo .. one or more .. press the SHARE icon tap the AIRDROP symbol .. your mac will appear after a few seconds .. select to copy the photos over .. BISH-BASH-BOSH done!!
When you plug in the phone to a USB port on the MAC, does it show up in MAC Finder?  You need "AutoPlay" enabled.  Works in Windows with iPhone. If so you can navigate to the phone, open it in Finder and see the photos. Move / copy what you need.
Hello Marspath,

You can drag the photo

Connect your iPhone to the Mac with a USB cable
Launch iPhoto if it doesn't open automatically
Pick the photo you want to transfer from the iPhone to your Mack
Click Import button
Click Import Selected photo

I agree, I think Airdrop is the easiest way to do this. But another way you can do this if you wish to avoid that is to "text" the photo to yourself as long as you have iMessage enabled on your Mac. It'll then show up in your iMessage app on your Mac, and then you can just drag and drop it onto your desktop or a folder.

Keep in mind though, depending on your carrier, Apple may compress your photo size due to attachment size limits. I haven't noticed any drop in size though.
An iPhone DOES NOT mount as an external drive on OSX …. "feature" that apple have decided (in their wisdom) you do not need ;-)

Apple and Windows trip over each other removing useful features to simplify :)   Some one mislead them
