1. SMS (mass text) allows you to get individual responses.
2. MMS (group MMS) allows people to respond to the group.
With either message format, you can name the group and the group doesn't see the name, but, you can't remove people from the group after you name it.

Hi Ted,
You listed Android as a topic so I'm guessing its only text messages on Android phones you're concerned about.

AFAIK there is not way to remove members of a text message group. You will have to create a new group without that person(s) in it. Even adding person to a group only creates a new group text, and they cannot view previous messages that were sent.

If you wanted some of that flexibility you'd need to use chat app like WhatsApp to on the fly add and remove users.

Hope this helps,
Martin

It's interesting that you would suggest WhatsApp.

I have a convoluted solution at the moment whereby we are custom coding some things that allow my Twillio number to funnel into a google spreadsheet so that I can make notes about each contact. This gives me the ability to sort and filter in a convenient way. Is there any of this functionality within WhatsApp?

Hey Ted,
Sorry I'm not sure if that would work with Whatsapp, and I forgot to mention that the other people you are messaging would need to have WhatsApp installed as well. I did not realize you were using this beyond just communicating with different groups.

If you are custom coding the SMS solution with the Twilio API, they do have a section on using it with WhatsApp. You may find the answer you need there.

Regards,
Martin
