Placement of Witness in configuring VCSA HA

Aloha,

I am beginning the process of setting up VCSA HA. I have one VCSA serving three very well connected sites on island. I will call them
best, better and good based on their internal condition. VCSA is at best and the failover VCSA will be at better. I am at a loss as where
to put the witness. For each site, I can think of three reasons to put it there and three reasons not to put it there. The reasons have to
do with best practices and logic and not with the state of the sites themselves.

Any ideas are appreciated.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

ideally witness has to be communicating all the time with active and passive. if you are sure that it can be cumbersome to implement, please avoid as it can lead to other issues if one node failed to talk to other node. vcenter might restart anytime which might be problematic for you.

knowingly do not make it complicated. you can have vcsa backups and full backup using backup tool is good option.

again its my personal opinion. I would. not keep production into risk when I know it may not work as expected.
