windows shows wrong capacity after upgrade

there is probably an explanation for this, i just don't know what
i have a dell desktop that came with a 128gb ssd and have outgrown it
i got a 2tb WD blue ssd and used clonezilla to image it and was successful
however, disk management does not see the drive as 2tb, only as 128gb
it shows 2tb in the bios and diskpart but can't do anything else to extend it since it doesn't see the drive size correctly
device manager sees the WD model number correctly but as a 128gb capacity
thoughts?

diskmgmt
diskpart
drive

Redo it using a different tool. Clonezilla seems to do this under certain circumstances. Use Macrium Refelect free or drive snapshot trial.

There was an old problem with Dell machines which put some protected area on the drive for their media player purpose. That area was called Host Protected Area.
During cloning to new drive it could occur that your new drive gets reported smaller.

Have you tried

DISKPART
select volume 1
extend volume

and
DISKPART
select volume 1
extend filesystem

You need to redo the clone with advanced mode and -r switch.

i used expert mode but didn't try -r
if that doesn't work i'll look at macrium

Maybe you want to check the steps discussed here:

that thread is over 12 years old.  done this before on a couple other dell systems and didn't have this issue

Have you tried...

yeah...when trying to extend, diskpart said "the size of the extent is less than the minimum"

ended up using aomei partition assistant
booted into WinPE and resized in under a minute
windows now sees the full size of the drive
clonezilla has -r as default option so it was used before but obviously didn't work

Normally it helps when using Windows Disk Management as well. But third party partitioning tools work better for sure.
