Logon times to RDS servers long during black screen
We have a Windows Server 2012 R2 RDS farm with eight servers and roaming profiles.
We are timing logins and with some people, after the group policies run, the screen goes black (with mouse working fine) before the desktop loads.
We are trying to reduce this amount of time by removing any unnecessary polices, desktop files, or even changing where Chrome caches its files so it's not replicated.
I've seen some reports on black screens but those seem to be hanging systems or video issues.
Some people log in quickly, others take as much as four minutes to get past that black screen.
Has anyone found a root cause of this black screen delay?
We can see the messages to wait for the user profile service, applying user settings, etc. then the window for the group policies, and then it goes black before delivering the desktop anywhere from 30s to 4min later.

On a client machine that is not working, are you able to kill the windows graphical interface, wait a few moment and then manually restart it? This would assist in determining whether the delay is in starting the interface, or some other underlying issue.
