Dell Inspiron Laptop Brightness Issue

We have a Dell Inspiron 5570 with Windows 10 Home.

We are unable to adjust the brightness through the control panel nor the settings.  The function keys appear not to work either.

I am let to believe there is some sort of power saving override or automatically adjust brightness option I have to turn off in order to manually adjust the brightness.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I would restart your laptop to see if then you can adjust the brightness. If that does not resolve the issue it is possible that another application as you suspect maybe over riding the brightness options.

Also, update BIOS, Chipset, Video and Power drivers on this machine.

We have tried all of these without success.  The BIOS is up to date, the display driver is up to date, and Windows Update is showing no updates/Windows 10 is up to date.  Is this hopeless?
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
I suggest you contact Dell Support.

Standard brightness controls with up to date drivers work fine on other computers.

One possibility, if you are willing, is to back up the computer and reinstall Windows.  Dell will likely suggest this to you.

Unfortunately, this is not a "known" issue
