VM consolidation needed every day for ASR Virtual machine

Using Azure Backup in a vSphere 6.0 Essentials environment

Daily customer has been getting messages virtual machine consolidation needed for the ASR virtual machine

I consolidate it and it completes successfully for that day but getting recovery point creation failed for their vCenter

Is there a best way to tidy this up, is it related to adding to adding more space\changing the backup time of the ASR vm?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Good afternoon,

If the consolidation message appears on a daily basis, it is because the backup tool at the moment of making the snapshot, does not eliminate them completely when the backup is finished. And it asks to execute the consolidation manually.

How is the backup configured in the VM?
Is a daily backup done?
Do you have the VM configured in a group with other VMs?

I remain attentive to your comments.

Thanks rafa, backup is carried out through ASR, space issue with the storage, (standalone QNAP disc 8TB is almost full)

Its in a protection group , looking at changing retention period, changing to a different priority setting

Daily backups are done alright
