"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Can you take the additional HDD out an run the test again?

The hard drive tested obviously is a candidate for replacement before it fails completely

The system won't be used between April 9 and May 8 so I'll use it until the 9th and look into it more in early May. Files, photos, music, videos, documents, bookmarks desired to be backed up. I have some small thumb drives and not sure how many gigs are needed for the back up of all that data. We do have a shop that might be able to move everything to the second drive. That drive is 500 gig and the one being used is only 300 gig and about 40% of that one is not being used.

I have had that error on my Lenovo Desktop.

Back up the drive immediately to a USB hard drive and then replace it. Do not delay. I have a dead drive in the basement.

Can the other drive in the system be used once the defective one is removed?
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
If it is not a RAID system, then yes the good drive can still be used.
nickg5Author Commented:
I can not but could let a local shop do that.
