Waiting on proxy tunnel
Throughout the day a good portion of my users experiences internet dropouts and waiting on proxy tunnel when they are on a browser. I have inherited just recently our proxy server. I don't know how it was built or for that matter how it works. The user who did know has left the company and I'm not sure where to start. Any help would be brilliant?
Thanks
Thanks
What are you using for a Proxy?
ASKER
PAC file.
Proxy Autoconfig file is used to help them find the proxy. What are they trying to find? Is it a Windows based one like TMG? Linux based like Squid, ngnix, Tinyproxy? Which?
ASKER
Sorry I'm pretty sure it's tmg.
Does this happen with all browsers?
ASKER
Yes all browsers and we run some online apps these are dropping as well. 365, tech1 products. Then give it 15-30 seconds they come back online.
If you clear the proxy config on the machine, does the issue reoccur? Can they get to the Internet without a Proxy?
ASKER
Yes that's correct if I bypass the proxy then no issues everything runs smoothly.
Then I would look at the performance of the server. I have seen the issue before with Bluecoat SGs but not with TMG. Chrome has issues with Proxy sometimes and I know disabling IPV6 helps there at times (or at least used to)

Thanks Jeff, I'll give that a go and let you know. Thank you so much you have helped me to understand how it all fits together in one morning brilliant very much appreciated.

Hi Jeff, I found out that these guys are also running Squid. It looks like at one time they ran tmg but are now running squid. I can see that on the windows server running squid its maxing out on the CPU. Any thoughts?
