What other waves besides radio waves are used by wireless networks?
Radio waves are just one small part of the spectrum of electro magnetic radiation.
WiFi uses e-m waves.
Same as visible light, x-rays, infrared, ultraviolet etc.

Yes but from AM (600 KHz) up through Wi-Fi (5 GHz) they are the same - just different frequencies is all.
Hi John,
*All* e-m radiation is the same, except it is all different frequencies.

Dr. Klahn,
Thank you for the homework, I appreciate it.

Alan: Yes indeed "wireless" and WiFi rather limits the answers to e-m doesn't it? I didn't take the question that way. And, it's true that many networks are developed using acoustic waves. But then, I'm an underwater guy and resonate with that kind of stuff. Undersea work situations benefit from networking of the same types we would think of but there's not often a better medium than acoustics. Yes, it's different and has its limitations but .. just the same.
"Radio" waves go from low frequency AM Radio up past normal Wi-Fi.
All the same thing.
