PowerPoint 2013 - Animation Pane is Numbering My Groups in an Odd Way

I have a new PPT presentation and just created a group of photos for an animation slide.
Why is it numbering the group as 11 and 12 when this is a brand new presentation and a brand new slide.  This should be group 1 and 2?

LOL who knows why they get numbered the way they do. The good news is that you can rename the groups and the objects in the selection pane so you know what is what Just click once and then once again on the  object name in the selection pane and retype a name that makes sense to you. That should help you identify what is in each group.
To get to the selection pane, click on any object, click the Format tab and choose Selection Pane

As Karen says you can rename.

PPT numbers in a weird way, if you have ever added groups before it continues numbering from the last group even if it has been deleted and it includes other shapes on the slide in the number.
