HP printer will print but not scan.

HP Printer LaserJet M1212nf MFP, cannot get the scan function to work.

Windows 10 64 bit.

Try to install the full software. Get the error message that the path cannot be found. Directly connected to PC.

Try to install just the scanner software. Get the error message that it cannot fid an HP LaserJet Professional printer.

The printing function works just fine.

Download and use the HP Scan and Capture app from the Microsoft App Store or use the HP Smart app to do the scanning.

Latest release was in 2016, so if the scanning function will not install, do two things:

1. Remove the Printer and Driver (both), restart and let Windows install the driver.
2. The HP Smart App may install automatically other wise, try Jackie's suggestion above
test if it scans whenin offline mode
then test if you can scan with paint>File>impart from scanner

I faced this problem before, First of all, turn off your Windows Firewall and Antivirus.

Open Start menu on the search bar write " %temp% " it will open the TEMP folder, Find the HP Installation folder that begins
with 7z (example: 7zs125488888888888).

double click on HPsetup.exe.

I have not found a solution yet. Still working it. Will follow up when I have a solution.
could you post the result of what i proposed?
Did you try the Windows HP Smart App?   That works wherever I use it.

Your MFP is pretty old and scanning might not work for Windows 8 or above.
may i ask why you don't answer the questions i ask, or pst the results of the proposed?
if you need more info, just say so
Did you try the HP Smart App?  That app scans fine and it may work for you
