How To Get / Install MSI Version 5.0

Hi Experts,
A few years ago I used MSI to create Access installations but it lacked some functionality I needed.

I switched to InstallShield but it became too expensive so I switched to SageKey.  Now SageKey have discontinnued support for their product although it is still available.

I just checked on MSI again and it appears that Version 5.0 will do what I need.

However I can't figuer out how to get it and install it on my Windows 10 PC.

Could one of you advise me how to get and install it?

PS: I'm currently developing in Windows 10 - Access 2010 but will be upgrading to Access 2016 soon.

Thanks,
Bob C.

Windows Installer 5.0 is part of windows 10.
What you need seems to be something different though: an application to create installation packages, right?

I have no idea what freeware would suit (possibly) you best, so I'd have to google myself: https://helpdeskgeek.com/free-tools-review/4-tools-to-create-windows-installer-packages/
Hi McKnife,

They don't have to be free just reasonably priced.

I have a licenced version of Windows Visual Studio 2015.5.  Is it included in it.  If it is I can probably purchse the latest upgrade.

Thanks,
Bob C.
https://www.advancedinstaller.com/user-guide/tutorial-ai-ext-vs.html shows how to use VS.
I don't know what version that update of VS2015 will create, though. please test it.
For today's Visual Studio, you can install an add-on named "WiX Toolset". It allows to create powerful installations, but is not very user-friendly however - you basically have to write XML that describes your installation. It has a lot of various add-ons and tools that facilitate creating installations. One of them is https://wixedit.github.io/ , you may want to take a look at it.

Visual Studio had its own setup project up to VS2008, which was quite good. If you still have access to VS2008, this may be the answer.

For the record, I'm still using Wise Installation Studio, discontinued years ago but still light years ahead of everything else (imho).
