I am trying to create user attrib, i read some articles and they say that we have to create a unique ID.
I am not sure whether the previous tech has created the Unique ID before for some apps, does it matter? can i create a new ID even though it was created before ?
if not, how do i find out whether we have a unique ID?

So, basically if you wanted to create a new user attribute, you can use any of the numbered attributes and then point your other application at that.
It's irrelevant if it's been done before, the only thing you need to ensure is you don't end up overwriting an existing one.

Official or unofficial? Unofficial you just generate one and use it

I have done this myself, you need to make sure that any OID is unique, because in the future, if someone else uses it and you need to update the schema, you might not be able to, due to it already being used.
OIDs are a managed hierarchy starting with ISO (http://www.iso.ch/) and ITU (http://www.itu.ch/). ISO and ITU delegate OID management to organizations by assigning them OID numbers; these organizations can then assign OIDs to objects or further delegate to other organizations.
Anyway, you can check and order a OID for your organization from http://www.iana.org/cgi-bin/enterprise.pl . There is no fee and turnaround appears relatively quick. Also, from to http://web.ansi.org/public/services/reg_org.html which does require a fee.

Can i use OID generator now to add some object for users ,register later if necessary and use the registered for the future.
no since the primary oid belongs to Microsoft.
Can you tell me what you want the OID to be referenced by? What's the reason for this and then we can look into it.
Thanks
Alex
