Cannot save file on team site

Hi all,

I am facing an issue on SharePoint where i cannot save a modified file within a folder. There are currently 19 Folders in the directory. When i create a folder with two words ex: Building Quotation, Word does not allow me to save me a file using the Save As function.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks

Looking at the URL of the Folder in question (when visiting in the browser) is it possible this URL is longer than 260 characters?

Are you using a version of SharePoint installed in your organization or SharePoint Online?

Hi Jamie,

The total character count of the url including the file itself comes up to only 216 characters , our clients use SharePoint linked on their Computers.
I'm going to need some more details like screenshots to progress this.
Hi Jamie,

I have attached an image which shows the error i get when trying to save a file.

Let me know as to what details you require and i will submit them

Thanks

Are there any strange characters in the filename?

Specifically any of these; " * : < > ? / \ |
No, there aren't any.
Is it a specific file name, or all files cannot currently be uploaded there?

Have you built out any folder structure in Files tab?
Its not a specific file name, it happens to almost all files. Files cannot be saved into a specific path of folders.

What do you mean by building folder structure in Files tab?

Thanks
You can put subfolders into the files tab of Teams. Wondering if that has happened, or this is just the plain file tab with no folders.
I found what the problem is,

Its the complete file path that is creating the issue, i am able to save the file if i go back 2 folders, and  then move it to the folder i want.

I checked the file path after moving the file and it seems way shorter.

Any idea how  this problem can be countered?
The total URL size as stated above is limited to 260 characters.

The way forward is to reduce the ultimate path length by limiting subfolders, their names, and filenames.

Aim for a flatter structure.
