Network adapter missing after update to Windows 7 Pro and .NET Framework 4.5 seems damaged. Are they related and how do I reconnect?

Updated My old Windows Vista for Business to a Win 7 Pro machine. A legal copy COA. It installed but upon final restart and confirmation of installation. No Adapter installed at all. The Device is not seen by Windows 7 Pro. However, I ran a tool called SIW which did see the adapter and saw WAN Miniport and RAS Async Adapter. No internet connect when before it was there. Hoping to get the machine to see the network and internet.

Also noticed a .NET framework 4.5v issue so I went to Microsoft downloaded repair tool then followed instructions then downloaded the files and got errors not sure if one affects the other. IF I can get to the internet seems like one issue may correct the other but not sure? Any help appreciated.

Log Installation FIle from the .NET attempt is included.

WAN Miniport is NOT your LAN adapter.  It is not there.  So as per the above post, check it in BIOS.  Otherwise it seems Windows does not recognize it.

Looking for the NIC in the BIOS could not find it. Checked Peripherals and everything I could find everything is enabled. I am looking at the BIOS to see if it needs to be upgraded. Apparently, it does need upgrading. The board BIOS everything. I will have to get back later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for the direction and advice. I will install all these reboot and check back in.

In device manager, select "view" and check "show hidden devices"

Under network adapters, if you see ones thats somewhat transparent, uninstall it and reboot.

When the computer comes back up, check device manager again and see if you can see the correct one.
you need to get the network adapter for windows 7 for this machine and install it.  as for .net uninstall it or use the .net framework repair tool

Thank you all for the outpouring of support. So that you all know some of what you said I either already did. Like the .Net Repair Tool. Which I mentioned in the Original Question. Some I was in the process of when things went a bit sideways. Others I would like to do but cannot at this time due to the following. See images.
So I downloaded all the updates to the Intel Board.
User generated imageKeep in mind I had ran the Windows Update Checking Tool for Win 7 Pro. It all checked out and said no issues whatsoever.
I ran the update and the entire Win 7 Pro installed and everything seemed stable other than the internet. I think I accidentally deleted a file on the .NET end that messed that up thinking it was a useless file. I think that is a lesser issue at this point....maybe not. Correct me if wrong?

So I Updated the BIOS to the latest version as I may have already stated. Never got to look at the HIDDEN DEVICES as one of you mentioned above because I rebooted after looking in the BIOS for the NIC and if anything was disabled.         This comes up next.
User generated imageSo I had both the original Vista for Biz 64 bit disk and the more recent COA Win 7 Pro disk. First tried the Win 7 No Go Then the Vista Biz
Neither worked in doing what they said. I got the following error each time.
User generated imageThen back to this message and run the repair.
User generated imageI maybe stuck in a loop not sure if I can get out or not.
User generated imageChoosing to boot up with DVD or built in HD I get this and back and forth I go.

I have two choices here.
1. If someone knows how to get ou of this I am all ears. If you think I can get back and keep what I have.
2. Salvage what I had in Documents and Family Photos & Music and just wipe and build the machine off of the Win  7 Pro disk,

I am open to either and as always thank you for the efforts. I feel like There must be something I am doing wrong as it was virtually a flawless update to Win 7 Pro. Maybe lost now. I am not sure. Advise if you can. Thanks again.
Oh I have all the Intel Controllers Drivers etc downloaded on the machine just not all installed. (BIOS only) C:\Downloads\Drivers\
Oh sorry one other thing. I may not have been clear on. I did try a Win 7 Pro 64 Repair disk. Since i have the Intel files (Controllers and every file listed on their site. Even the BIOS before the latest one downloaded to the PC. Maye with DOS and CMD I could be guided to fix Old School..?
Did you try the repair and restart (your screen above)

Salvage what I had in Documents and Family Photos & Music and just wipe and build the machine off of the Win  7 Pro disk,

I think this is what I would do here
what PC model ?

Nobus it is not a HP or DELL it is a generic machine I built years ago. As far as model goes. All I know to respond here is to tell you the motherboard model? I hope that is correct. The COA disk is non-descriptive for any model of machine that I can see. DVD just says Microsoft Win 7 Pro for OEM software? I saw nothing for DELL HP or other model type.

If option 2 then any tips on where I can or how to move files the DOS way. I can barely remember how? If I wipe out some of the documents I might have a lot of rewriting to do and a bunch of wedding photos down the drain not to mention my music collection.
You should be able to boot to a bootable USB key and then attach a USB hard drive to another port and copy the files from computer to USB drive.

I'd like to try this "try" first. Helps me get things back to normal quicker if I use your suggestion first then the others if it does not. I must have posted seconds after you did. DId not see this until I refreshed my page. I will work on this immediately. Thanks.
I noted that you'd supplied the motherboard make and model, hence my very specific suggestions on what to do next.

Regarding recovering your data files, these will be stored in C:\Users\yourusername\Documents for documents, C:\Users\yourusername\Pictures for pictures, and so on. If you're booting from a USB drive or CD then the drive letter may not be C:, but its size and the folder names in the root should confirm that it's the one with your data on it. You don't have to use a DOS environment or DOS commands - indeed, that would make things much more difficult for you due to the lack of long filename support. Knoppix is a well known OS designed to run directly from a USB drive or optical media, and will make finding and copying your files relatively painless.
is the lan missing in every OS? look it up in Device manager
Now I feel like Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh from Bull Durham. When Nuke throws the perfect pitch and quietly whispers to himself. That was perfect....OMG what did I do?!

Some how some way I did everything that was described above. I would like to say that did it. As I was about to completely give up...because I could not even do a complete erase and install a full version of Win 7 Pro. It just would not work. I have screenshots I have never seen before. I went back into the BIOS and found a few things that were not Disabled. The On-board LAN was ENABLED. So I followed the instructions above. I Disabled & RE ENABLED. Nothing. After going into the USB Section I noticed something was disabled in it. So I went around and ENABLED anything I could find that wasn't I noticed somethings seemed to be new? HUM so I restarted and got a message that said the BIOS was now updated. I clicked OKAY and wallah the WIN 7 Pro was up. All files were there all could be backed up.

Unfortunately, NO Adapter listed in the Adapter section. I go to Device Manager and Clicked VIew as MOBUS instructed and chose UNHIDE.
Now in the list there is no WAN Miniport items listed only ONE Intel 82578DC GIGABIT NETWORK Connection#2 in the device manager is listed with the yellow yield like sign on it. The Other devices listed MULTIMEDIA  Audio Controller is also showing a yellow mark. I had installed the realtek audio drivers twice but not sure why they are not going on...
Found this under the Intel sight.

I am trying that now. Also I did find an old NIC sitting in a box I had saved so I will try it next if this driver does not work. I think we are close..!
is the lan missing in win7 and  vista?
Here is the image I get when I pull up Device Manager.
User generated imageI have checked also cables Router Connections.
So now there is an old NIC card that apparently the Machine sees but I note that the little green light is not lit on the card.
The Onbaord Intel is lit up with the green light and orange/yellow light.

So I attempted to keep pushing forward and keep trying to solve this based on the incredible support here. Not a quitter.
I did the following. I went to the Network Sharing Center and to Adapter Settings
User generated imageThen as you can see there is still no adapter listed.User generated image
This may be a dumb question but shouldn't the Adapter Settings Properties Client - Services - Protocols be listed there if the Device manager sees it?
Nobus I only see Windows 7 Pro now on Reboot. Vista might still be there \but I have not looked. What reboot F key would that be to bring that dual boot up?
Okay after realizing what must have happened and having done it several times. I reflashed the BIOS a second or I think actually 3rd time. Then I went back to the Intel Drivers and ran the Intel® Network Adapter Driver for Windows 7*

I ran this again and noticed the remove feature. Since this driver was updated for this Intel board as recently as 2 months ago. I went ahead and clicked on the remove feature. Then rebooted the machine. Came back up same no internet connection. Then I ran the driver install again....and Wallah everything on the network started showing up. Could not have done it without you! Your comments got me thinking about sequence, reinstalls and completely removing the drivers and starting over. Since I did have Windows 7 Pro working at least made that easier. Then I thought about what should be and what shouldn't be and with a little of my own noggin, I got it working. At some time the install did not go on as it should have even though I kept reinstalling them. I guess the third time was the charm as I am pretty sure the Intel® Network Adapter Driver for Windows 7* was installed at least 2 time and I think actually 3.

Windows is updating .Net and other things. I will reboot and check for issues. Right now, I can see the network all other machines. As always, I am grateful for this forum. Without you I would have gone a bit crazy. As I am working on the "Don't allow computers to drive you NUTS problem." Showing some success there and patience thanks to the guys at EE.
So glad that nightmare is over. I need a beer....and I can't even drink! Thank you all.
