Sonicwall Wireless Frequeny change
If you change a Sonicwall Wireless W0 from 2.4 to 5ghz do you need to rejoin all client devices to the wireless like a new wireless or can you just reboot the device?
You should just need to disconnect and reconnect the device; a reboot would do it as well. This assumes you are still running dual-band. If you change it from 2.4 only to 5 only it will force the client off then the client should reconnect by itself.

Sonicwall can only be 1 band at a time. It is currently 2.4ghz. I will change it to 5ghz. I just don't want to have to rejoin all their wireless printers

Thanks! I'm going to have to do it to get a little more speed.
Don't count on more speed unless the 2.4 band is already heavily congested. 5 GHz is not faster, it just has more channels available to it so less interference. Also keep in mind that 5 GHz does not go through objects like 2.4 does so the range is shorter. Think of a 2 year old with short legs (5 GHz) trying to run in a foot of water vs an adult with long legs (2.4 GHz).
If speed is the issue and the 2.4 band isn't congested; it's probably the AP or client. SonicWALL has notoriously crappy WiFi gear. I love their firewalls, I never use their WiFi gear. I opt for TP-Link where usage is moderate and cost is a factor, Meraki if they have a little more to spend, and Cisco when performance is critical.
