Can you start with a bootable USB Key, and then see any folders on the OS drive?

Yes, yes all my drives show up in the bios.
So my bios setting is set to legacy, this will allow my OS drive to boot.
If I change the setting to UEFI, my OS won't boot.

I haven't tried that, so what's the easiest or fastest way to make a bootable usb?  Well, does it matter, as with legacy mode, I can boot into my system, that's no problem, it's just not displaying my other 2 drives, my 2nd SSD and platter drive, which has data on it.

Easy.  You don't have the Intel Chipset drivers installed.  Look at Device Manager under Storage Controllers - You have Exclamations next to the Intel C600... devices.  If it's not a driver issue, then it's possible the device is bad... I'd start by installing the chipset drivers for the mainboard as that will probably restore access to the drives.

I was almost tempted to say maybe they were accidentally unplugged either the power or the signal cable, but when you said they were detected in the bios that obvious is not the case. I still feel it is a hardware issue. I would create a bootable usb stick from the Ultimate boot disk.

installed the intel chipset drivers and restarted, still the same, said the newest or best driver is already installed.
Drives still do not show up.

I made the boot disk, I will try that.  It's late, so I might try to continue working on this tomorrow.

Try also updating the BIOS on the machine.

Also, as asked earlier, boot with a bootable USB key and see if the drives and folders show up this way.

So I made a bootable Ian with grub, I booted to it, but now I have no idea how to use it?  I'm starting at a prompt:  grub> _

I pressed tab, so I got a list of all these commands, but no idea how to use it, I guess I need to google it

Use LS   LS /?   for help.   Use this to list files on the drives.

I did ls, and it says:
Grldr autorun.inf autorun.ico system\ volune\ Information

The I did ls/?
Error: no such command: ls/?

If you want to access the drives to recover data, you can try Linux.  If you want to get them working under Windows you need to resolve the controller driver issue.  You could also look into attaching with USB adapters or switching the SATA ports you're connected to.  You MIGHT get away with changing the mode of the SATA ports (if they are in RAID take them out of RAID if that's an option) but be WARNED - doing so could make it even harder to access the drives / recover the data.

Thanks Lee, I'll remove the drives tomorrow and backup the data, I know I can access the data, I guess after I get the data off, them I'll try again changing the settings in the bios to make them show up.  

It's just crazy as it worked earlier today, since the computer want booting under ufei mode, we changed it to legacy mode and it boots,  but both drives don't show up now in windows.

I wonder is this had anything to do with it, but during the restore, I used arcserve udp backup, Nate metal restore, during the restore it was giving me a hard time selecting my OS drive, :9 I shut down the computer, unplugged my 2 drives and performed the restore.  Then did the restore and the OS drive wouldn't boot, bios was set to uefi, so I changed that to legacy and it boot fine.

Is it a possibility that the drives are not showing up because my MBR or bootrec file is corrupt?
They are not boot drives, so didn't think it would make a difference.

the fact that you did a full restore ( an image restore, yes?) - and have errors in Device manager, shows to me that you have probably hardware problems - that should be sthe start of your problems
i would run diagnostics on ram AND disk - manufacturer's tools; i use the UBCD for this

For disk Diagnostics run the disk diag for your disk brand (eg seagate diag for seagate drive)  from the HDD section -  long or advanced diag !  (runs at least for30 minutes)

Can both drives can be read in another system? Or how about putting the drives in a hard drive dock and access them via usb?  When plugging in the drives did you ensure both cables were snuggly plugged into the drive?

What the author has presented is fairly common with multimedia cards. It will show the device but it will also say NO MEDIA INSERTED. If you insert formatted media it will the show as a drive and be assigned as a drive letter.  My Epson Printer AND a USB Dongle that I own have various multimedia slots i.e. SD, miniSD x 2, MicroSD and with NO media plugged into the device the device shows up and is also available in disk management but no drive letter is assigned UNTIL I put some media into the slot.  Then it shows up, this is situation normal since as far back as VISTA (can't remember further back)

I just updated the bios and the chipset, and still the same issue, the same icons still there, with the yellow exclimation point.
I tried with both drivers the drivers directly from Intel, and also the drivers from Dell, restarted and still doesn't see the drivers.

I know the drivers are formatted ok, as before the system restore, they both worked fine and had data on them, they are formatted as NTFS.

David, so you're saying just use an SD card or micro SD into my slot, I'll try to find one, but I don't think I have any.

You gotta love windows, so it tells me the best drivers are already installed, but that's not true.

After attempting to search manually and trying different things, I figured out a way to find the drivers I downloaded and tried to manually install them, and after a few tries, even through it kept on telling me I'm using the best drivers, I got the drivers to load, and guess what, then windows recognized the drivers, I didn't even have to go to device or disk management, they just appeared automatically.

yeah I hate when Windows say the best drivers are already installed when the drivers installed give error messages. Sometimes the best way to install it manually is in safemode. But yes they would still have to be installed manually. Glad you got it worked out.
