I need to buy a reliable printer for printing invoices (for business) with a low cost toner / ink refill

I need to purchase a printer for my a business, and need to print several hundred pages per day (customer invoices). Currently we use an Epson workforce 7720 and I refill the cartridges manually, but several times a week we get the "cartridge not recognized" error and we have to remove the ink tank and reinstall it. Sometimes we print in batches, and when it does that invalid cartridge error, sometimes it double prints or misses a page, and several times that has caused us a huge headache.

So I need to purchase a dedicated printer just for printing invoices.

Requirements :
Has to print in color
Speed-   Sometimes we print 100-200 invoices in a single batch, so a high speed printer is ideal
low ink / toner cost- If we buy a new printer and use aftermarket cartridges, we may have the same problem we have now.

So I am wondering what the best model is to buy? I would rather buy a high quality printer if it means being able to buy cheap ink / toner refills that are reliable (ether oem or high quality aftermarket).

A few years ago I purchased a $100 laser printer and I refilled the toner myself, and it printed good for maybe 1000 pages and then  it stopped working (printing got lighter and lighter even with a fresh refill pack installed)  Not sure if the problem was using aftermarket toner, or if it was just a low quality printer.

I was looking at the epson eco tank printers, that seems ideal, because you install the ink tanks and they are good for about 10,000 pages! The only issue with that printer is it is not rated for business use (the output tray only holds 30 pages, we print 100-200 pages in a batch) Also the print speed is slow.

So I was wondering if anyone can suggest a good model printer?

Your needs are very high.

Consider a high end HP 8700 business printer or a Xerox Colour printer. We have one of the latter at a client (Xerox 7220 I think) and it could handle your volume.
We have always been happy with Brother laser printers.  Here is a link to a Brother with Amazon dash capable.   https://www.amazon.com/Brother-Monochrome-HL-L6200DW-Networking-Replenishment/dp/B01824JTWK/ref=sr_1_1?crid=18537GI1W4JPB&keywords=brother+laser+printer&qid=1555767438&refinements=p_n_feature_two_browse-bin%3A617272011&rnid=589334011&s=office-electronics&sprefix=brother+laser%2Caps%2C182&sr=1-1

FOR USE WITH BROTHER GENUINE TONERS: TN820 Standard Yield Toner, TN850 High Yield Toner, TN880 Super High Yield Toner for low cost printing
Oops, my last post was black & white, here is a link to a Brother laser color printer for $480 there are higher output units for more money.  https://www.amazon.com/Brother-HL-L8360CDWT-Networking-Automatic-Replenishment/dp/B06XDM9FG3/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=brother+color+laser+printer&qid=1555767689&refinements=p_n_feature_three_browse-bin%3A617277011&rnid=617273011&s=office-electronics&sr=1-5

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I was looking at the ones that was mentioned, and I like the Xerox machine. I was looking at newer models, and I think the Xerox VersaLink C500 is a great option for us. It is on sale for $550 (usd) after rebates.

Its very fast, prints in color and holds lots of paper (holds 750 sheets)

It also looks like this model has a lifetime warranty through Xerox.

So is this a good choice?
Yes I think that is a decent choice

Keep in mind, with a laser printer you will have 3 consumables.

The toner
The drum (or transfer belt)
and the fuser

All three are customer costs and in any commercial grade laser printer, you want to make sure you can replace them easily without a technician.   As to any warranty, they usually are automatically voided, when you use non OEM consumables.  The xerox c500 looks like its easy to replace those items.  See the fuser, and the drum/toner pages
here:  https://www.support.xerox.com/support/versalink-c500/documentation/enus.html

Also, Epson does make a "Supertank" printer with large paper capacity.
See:  https://epson.com/For-Work/Printers/Inkjet/WorkForce-Pro-ET-8700-EcoTank-All-in-One-Supertank-Printer/p/C11CG39201
I second the Epson supertank mentioned by Fred Hakim. 10,000 page black consumable for $90, means really cheap printing. Be aware that the print rating is in ISO pages per minute, which is a more accurate judge of print speed than simple ppm, as ISO defines a page to include text and graphics as defined here: https://epson.com/iso-print-speeds
Thanks for all the info everyone!

I was not aware that with a laser printer, the transfer belt and fuser are both consumable parts.
So I was wondering, approximately how many pages would I be expected to print before the transfer belt and fuser would need to be replaced?

I was also not aware of the larger unit that Epson makes, (WorkForce Pro ET-8700, with the eco tank). After looking at that one, I think that one will be able to do the job as well.  It is a very expensive though ($999 usd).

So now I am wondering what unit I should pick, the laser VersaLink C500 or the ET-8700.

So experts, what are your suggestions?
From xerox's website: C500 toner 12,100 pg black & 3 9000pg Color toners $980
Add waste unit every 30000 pg@ $20 each, maintenance kit, fuser & rollers every 100000 pgs @$300 and replace the drums every 40000 pages @$272.

From Epson site: black ink pack 10000 pages $90 & 3 colour packs every 5000 pages @$75. Printer includes enough ink in the box to print 16000 pg black & 11000 pg in color.
Epson costs more to buy but long term will save you more in running costs
Note on that Epson:  The paper tray is large, but there are not specs on the output tray.  From the pics it may or may not hold 500 pages.  You might want to contact Epson about that before buying.

The Epson seems like the better buy for the long term.   But keep in mind the number of pages depends on the amount on ink/toner you print on a page.  Both companies estimate that.

Other considerations are print speed, reliability, operational issues (like what happens when the printer needs ink or toner.  Will it pause for replacement then continue?  Or, will it cancel the current job -- which you said could be a large number of pages?)    I would check with both Xerox and Epson directly for those answers.  Each website has contact phone numbers for questions and more information.
