phone call Ringing only in headset

Please tell me how phone can ring in headset instead of in phone. I want ringer to wake me but not to wake anyone else.

By default, a phone never uses the option to ring in the headset only, as the phone is designed firstly, as a phone alone.  Therefore the options are ALWAYS , sound + vibrate then vibrate only, then silence. All the extra options (headset, be it fixed cable or bluetooth) are fixed.
So in your case, vibrate only is the only obvious option.

I looked through a half dozen articles and the only conclusive comments were that you could not have a headphone only ringer.

For most Android phones, the answer is No.

But, for Samsung Galaxy phones, the answer is Yes as Samsung developed an app to do what you want and you are lucky as you are using a Samsung S7 Edge.

Install the above app and enable
Alert through headphone.

Provided that you have updated Samsung Experience version to 9.0.
