With this code, i can only set the background color of a row it is negative. foreground color doesn't work. Besides I only get the opening &quot;(&quot;, not the closing one &quot;)&quot;, to show negative in parenthesis.

format is a private DecimatFormat variable declared as below

And DecimatFormat has &quot;format&quot; method to format any value

Well you need to make that format the value with brackets around it if it's negative don't you? 
 
I don't really know JavaFX, but i'd have thought it would go something like:

Can someone help with a JavaFx code to format a TableView Column in a way that numbers include separators, and negative numbers are red and put in parentheses 
i.e. (3 500.99) for negative.
