Remove symbols and commas from values

Hi,
I'd like an Excel formula to remove symbols and commas
examples
£5,620   to   5600
€47,800 to  47800
The only currencies are £ and €
Many thanks
Ian

I wish it was that easy :)
I tested what I posted and it works. Did it not work for you?
I found the answer

=IF(A14="","",PROPER(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(LEFT(F14,IFERROR(FIND("(",F14)-1,LEN(F14))),"`",""),"'","")))
So you must be converting text not numbers . I would not have known that from your post
No John, didn't work at my end.
Oh yes John, please forgive me. The formula cell had a currency format when changed to number it worked.
You are right. I have used that formula for many years but forgot about the format
Thanks for the update.  I was happy to help you recollect it.
Thanks John a timely reminder. I'm going senile :)
No not at all :)  We all forget stuff.
