The Kindle can read multiple formats including native .pdf but as David says if you email it to your Kindle address Amazon will do a lot of the conversion for you and it will be available on all your devices.<br />

Calibre also can convert to .AZW which is the modern Kindle exchange format and unless your doing some fancy publishing that needs .KPF format, Calibre is your go to tool for conversion.<br />

Those files will only appear on a single device though (unless again you're emailing them).
