Hi Experts,

I would like to exchange encrypted  information (by a certificate) from an IBM I-server to a Microsoft SQL server (2016)
Can I exchange the certificate used for the encryption from IBM to MSSQL server or vice versa?

For what I have read: I can create identical certificates on a source and target MS SQL server, but I cannot export and import this certificate.\

Can anyone help, please?

There are 2x general ways of doing this.

1) An SSH connection.

2) A SSL/TLS cert wrapped connection.

Which approach you take will be determined by exactly what info you're trying to exchange + what you'll do with this info after it's exchanged.

The simple approach is to stick with #1, then run an ssh command on your remote box to generate a database backup, pull the backup across the line (encrypted via SSH), then do something with the backup.

Note: If you're actually trying to talk between 2x different database systems, you'll likely require custom code to do this using #2 above.
