Free up space in the following folders: Office File Cache, $Recycle.Bin, and Software Distribution/Downloads
I need to open up space on my server and I noticed that the folder called Software Distribution/Downloads contains 40GB of information. What is this folder used for and is it safe to delete everything in it?
Additionally, I notice that Office File Cache seems to have 16GB. Is it safe to delete this folder and what is it used for?
One more. I located a folder called $Recycle.bin that has 5GB of data in it. I see my actual recycle bin shows nothing in it so what is this folder doing with all that data and is it safe to delete?

btw, how do you turn off windows update temporarily in order to delete those files?
