AWS Lightsail / EC2 sizing

We're considering deploying a Lightsail instance for a client

We need:
Windows Server 2016 Standard - 6 CAL's
SQL Server 2017 - 6 CAL's
32GB RAM
400GB SSD

So far I've been unable to contact AWS to obtain pricing. I completed a Sales enquiry form a few days ago and have not received a response

Questions:
1. How to contact AWS to obtain pricing?
2. Assuming I have to wait for AWS to respond, does anyone who use Lightsail have an idea what the pricing is likely to be (we're based in Aust).
3. If we decided to try and deploy via EC2 instead, how would we "size" / convert the above spec into an equivalent EC2 config?

Thanks

You said, "So far I've been unable to contact AWS to obtain pricing" which got me laughing.

You must be new to AWS, as you'll rarely get any response from Amazon about anything + when you do... the responses... are normally useless...

https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/check-it-out-new-aws-pricing-calculator-for-ec2-and-ebs/ points to the new calculator, geared for usage by mere mortals.

1. How to contact AWS to obtain pricing?

You must use one of their calculators. See link above.

2. Assuming I have to wait for AWS to respond, does anyone who use Lightsail have an idea what the pricing is likely to be (we're based in Aust).

If you require any level of tech assistance, chose another provider, rather than AWS.

3. If we decided to try and deploy via EC2 instead, how would we "size" / convert the above spec into an equivalent EC2 config?

Ask your question a different way.

If you're asking about disk space, you'll size the type of space you require. Amazon provides many different types of space.

https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/29129638/AWS-Costs-understanding-etc.html is a related question asked recently.

Be sure to read the part about Surprise Bills from Amazon.

These are common. The first time you expect to get a $100 bill only to receive a $10,000+ bill... is a very bad day indeed...

If you do use AWS, all developer actions must be tightly controlled, else you end up with staggering bills for very little tech.

Hello David,

Thanks for responding.

I am relatively 'new' to AWS, I have a small EC2 system that uses very little resources and as a result has been good value. But that doesn't mean that I am "sold" on AWS or cloud solutions generally for production servers - I'm trying to figure out if they can be a viable proposition in certain cases.

In terms of my support expectations, I don't anticipate needing a lot of assistance on an on-going basis; but if I do have questions then I expect to be able to get answers. It does annoy me that AWS offer a 'Live Chat' option that so far is never available even when it is supposed to be - and then they don't respond to an online inquiry either.

Appreciate any further info you can provide in relation to the following:

1. Are there any other equivalent offerings to Lightsail from other vendors. From what I can see Azure don't have a similar offering
2. If I sign-up with AWS on a paid/premium subscription for 1 month, am I likely to be able get decent response to tech questions. So I can evaluate AWS offerings that way?
3. If the answer to Q2 is No. What vendor would you suggest that I consider?
4. Regarding EC2 and 'Surprise Bills'; is there a way to configure an instance with a "cost ceiling". So that if the costs exceed a threshold value, the instance just stops (i.e. like a BSOD)?

Thanks
