After an exchange 2013 to O365 Cut over migration, we realized that we needed to move a public folder used to store contacts. I have exported the public mailbox to a pst but none of the contacts are present.  I would like to connect an outlook client to the EOL exchange server to view the email profiles as they where prior to migration.   We have not removed exchange from AD or uninstalled the product.  however we have removed the SCP pointer from AD so that outlook will connect to O365.   Any tips here folks?

How did you perform the export? You will want to do it in the Compliance and Security center to get the correct data exported. https://acbrownit.com/2019/04/26/export-to-pst-o-365/ covers doing a PST export. You'll need to change this to focus on the Public Folder you want to export, but it should get you down the right road.

I extracted the pst of the public folder using lepide. I really need to just connect outlook to the old exchange server.  I have even installed outlook on the exchange server I just cannot get it to connect.

Use a computer with a hosts file that points autodiscover.domain.com, mail.domain.com, etc to your Exchange server's IP address. Hosts file takes precedence over DNS.
