Microsoft Teams - Storage Limit

Microsoft Teams (And even SharePoint and OneDrive) seem to have grey area with the storage. I can't get a good Microsoft support representative on the phone. I have a project that needs to start with 15TB of file storage and we want to use Microsoft Teams to work on this collaborative project. Is there a license that allows this right off the bat, or is there a way to pay for additional storage?

ie: OneDrive is "Unlimited Storage" but 1TB included, then you have to call when at 90% to get 5TB, and so on and so on. Teams doesn't seem to offer this scaling but we need 15TB to start with.

If Microsoft doesn't have a solution for this, what would be an equivalent?
Thanks

Teams storage counts against your overall SharePoint Online quota, and if you need to increase that you can purchase additional GBs as needed. Refer to the service description documents for more info: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/limits-specifications-teams#storage

Teams storage is SharePoint storage, so it follows the normal SharePoint limits and processes of a SharePoint site. You should be able to talk with MS support to get the storage for a single Teams Storage Site extended in your specific case. Otherwise, if you already have 15TB of data to store, you could move in ~1TB of it, contact support to get 5TB, fill that, then contact support again (A bit of a pain, but if they don't give you that much space to start with, it's an option).

Hi Adam,
The limit of 1TB - 5TB - 15TB etc is OneDrive price model which advertises "unlimited data" it looks like for Sharepoint/Teams you have to add storage after the initial 1TB at $0.20 a GB for us this would cost roughly $1800 a month which is crazy. I am going to try one more time with a Microsoft rep to see if they could extend the Teams Site Storage as special case. Odd to me that OneDrive is on the same infrastructure but costs so much less.

OneDrive uses lower tier storage than SharePoint, despite existing in the same SharePoint organization, from what I understand. That said, you *can* open Cloud stored data in a Teams channel to allow access to files. https://support.office.com/en-ie/article/share-a-folder-from-cloud-storage-in-teams-988f8305-a0e2-44d8-9246-fcca7dd32e93 https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/storage/blobs/ can help you calculate costs there. If you are cool with archive speed, you could get 15TB for about $30 a month. Alternatively, you *can* share OneDrive for Business folders in Teams to make them available to all users in the team.

1TB is the initial storage for a tenant with no licenses, in any real tenant you would have a lot more. I have over 3TB available in my tenant, which is basically a trial...

Hey Adam,
That Blob option looks interesting. I am concerned with the costs per read/write only because this is going to be a TON of data. It would be hard to calculate. Do you have any experience with Blob storage? Thank you for giving me a second avenue to look down!
